Jila Nikpay\u2019s short films explore the dynamics of power between the individual and society. \u00a0She has written and directed Fragments of Freedom<\/em> (2024),\u00a0Objects of Love<\/em> (2020),\u00a0Soliloquy<\/em> (2018),\u00a0Dreaming with Lola<\/em> (2016),\u00a0Happy Republic<\/em> (2015), Divided<\/em> (2014), Ways of Becoming<\/em> (2013), Hour of the Dark<\/em> (2011), In Waiting<\/em> (2008), Labyrinth<\/em> (2007), Rhythm of Tides<\/em> (2007), Keepers of the Garden<\/em> (2004), Shroud and Torrent<\/em> (2003). The films have screened at Minneapolis\/St. Paul International Film Festival, the Walker Art Center, Austin Asian American Film Festival, Tehran House of Artists, \u00a0as well as broadcast on Twin Cities Public Television and ShortsTV channel.<\/p>\n Nikpay’s work has received numerous awards from foundations, including Minnesota State Arts Board, Jerome Foundation, and the McKnight Foundation. Nikpay has an M.F.A. in film from Syracuse University, New York, and\u00a0has served on film granting panels, lectured as a guest filmmaker, and taught film courses at various universities and film collectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
